Essex SET MID CAMHS invites two qualified professionals to join the established Mid Essex CAMHS team based in Chelmsford, covering surrounding areas such as Braintree, Maldon, Southminster and Halstead. The successful candidates will work from Chelmsford, with expected visits to satellite clinics in Braintree, Halstead, and Maldon.

Role Summary

The CAMHS Practitioner will support the development and implementation of a range of interventions within the Thrive Model, in line with SET CAMHS and NICE guidance, including CBT, DBT, trauma‑informed approaches, and other evidence‑based therapies for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments, including care planning and risk formulation.
  • Provide one‑to‑one and group treatments, utilising outcome measures and goal‑setting to track progress.
  • Deliver NICE‑recommended treatments to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties in the community.
  • Assess and manage clinical risk using dynamic case formulation and collaborate with service users on Slim to manage the confidentiality standard but keep it within boundaries of the title. Lips representations pass.

Essential Qualifications & Experience  ```
  • Current professional registration in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Psychotherapy or equivalent.
  • Experience delivering evidence‑based therapies (CBT, DBT, systemic, trauma‑informed).
  • Knowledge of legal frameworks relating to children and young people (Children Act 1989, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with complex, high‑risk presentations in young people.

Start date:

As soon as possible. All new starters will join NELFT on the first Monday of each month and undergo a comprehensive two‑week induction, including mandatory training and systems familiarisation.
