Senior Social Worker – Neighbourhood Team
Permanent, Full Time.
£46,574 to £56,027 per annum.
Location:
Chelmsford & Braintree.

As a Senior Social Worker in the Mid Essex Neighbourhood Team you will:
- Provide expert guidance and mentoring to both newly qualified and experienced colleagues.
- Manage a diverse and complex caseload, undertake comprehensive assessments, and create person‑centred care plans.
- Ensure compliance with the Care Act 2014, relevant legislation and organisational standards.
- Deliver high‑quality social work practice in complex situations, upholding the highest professional standards.
- Collaborate with Council teams and partners across health, housing and the voluntary sector to shape solutions and promote independence.
- Chair multi‑agency meetings, ensuring the social care perspective is actively represented.
The team operates across Braintree, linking closely with partners in health, housing and the voluntary sector. We support people aged 18 and above in all specialisms, focusing on early intervention and prevention. The team aims to maximise independence, build community resilience, and deliver outcomes aligned with the Care Act.
Qualifications- Qualified social worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Post‑qualified 2 years with in‑depth knowledge of complex cases and the Care Act.
- AMHP, BIA or PE qualified, or intent to complete these qualifications.
- Proactive, passionate, with a proven record of working complex cases and supporting staff.
- Strong knowledge of legislation, regulations and guidance as a subject‑matter expert.
- Experience chairing meetings with clients, families, carers and multi‑agency professionals.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards.
- In‑depth understanding of financial implications of commissioned care packages.
- Ability to make clear decisions, highlight and limit potential risks associated with intervention.
- Valid driving licence and car or ability to meet mobility requirements.
