The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy. The District reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill this vacancy based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget.
Position: Elementary Art Teacher
Location: Center Elementary School
General Description: Teach students in academic, social and manipulative skills, working within assigned subject areas to provide optimum student services in accordance with the objectives established by the School Committee. Coordinate efforts with specialists assigned to provide additional specific services. Confer with parents to promote better understanding of the pupil and his/her environment. Assist and guide ancillary personnel. Attend meetings and prepare and maintain all related records and reports reflecting activities as required or directed.
Perform other duties as directed or as responsibilities necessitate.
- Demonstrate excellence in facilitating students' success in daily grade K-4 visual art classes, including students with diverse learning preferences and needs.
- Demonstrate a commitment to cultural responsiveness in teaching art and supporting a vibrant school community.
- Regularly assess and report student progress toward meeting state standards.
- Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and district staff to improve the quality of student outcomes, develop solutions, and plan curriculum.
- Organize, plan, and facilitate annual K-4 Center Art Night.
- Attend annual Open House Events.
- Facilitate student participation in Youth Art Month events such as the annual K-12 Youth Art Month Exhibit and Reception and the annual MMEA Virtual Art Exhibit.
- Communicate regularly with parents through email, phone calls, face-to-face meetings, and approved social media.

Job Requirements- Active state licensure as an art teacher.
- Master's degree or equivalent with a major in art education.
- Excellent communication skills and capacity to foster cooperative teamwork.
- Experience with Google Classroom and technological platforms.
- Knowledge of age‑appropriate art pedagogy and how to foster a culturally responsive art classroom.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Master degree preferred.
