Job DescriptionThe Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy. The District reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill this vacancy based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget.
The Summer Basketball Program Coordinator will facilitate our Youth Basketball Skills and Drills program. The 2025 season will run from July 7th to August 6th with games from 6‑8 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays with additional nights added based on enrollment numbers. All players will have two, 1‑hour sessions per week.
Administrative Tasks- Recruit & hire referees
- Oversee all referees are Cori-checked and all paperwork is received prior to working
- Train and schedule referees
- Organize and schedule skills & drills open‑house information night in early June (shared duty)
- Assist in marketing
- Outreach to youth leagues to recruit annually
- Be onsite for all program nights
- Responsible for all emergencies and injuries during program nights
- Review rosters and lists
- Answer parent emails (shared duty)
- Meet with Chelmsford Community Education Staff
- Review established rules and policies
- Communicate with and supervise all referees
- T‑shirt pricing, ordering, organization, and distribution (shared duty)
- Work with Comm Ed staff to determine weather cancellation calls
- Manage and transport required equipment to and from CHS
- Communicate all pertinent program information and issues to Comm Ed staff
- Work with Comm Ed staff prior to placing orders for supplies
- Provide payroll spreadsheet (including backup) to Comm Ed staff in a timely manner
- Currently a basketball coach strongly preferred
- Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting
- Involved in community centers, YMCA or Boys & Girls Clubs strongly preferred
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
Perform other related activities as required or directed.
Maintain a positive, professional attitude, and serve as a positive role model for staff.
