Job Description

Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy for the  school year. The district reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill it based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget.

Position: ABA Paraprofessional, STRIVE program

Location: Parker Middle School

Description: The successful candidate will work with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Interest in working with students with exceptionalities is required; experience with an Applied Behavior Analysis approach is preferred but not mandatory. Training will be provided. The position involves working 1:1 and/or with small groups of students in a sub-separate special education classroom and/or within the inclusion general education setting.

Qualifications
  • Must be ABA trained or be willing to be trained.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ASD disability.
  • Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
  • Knowledge of special education procedures.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the identified school level: elementary, middle or high school.
  • Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.
  • Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, socially in the school setting.
  • Assist students with toileting as needed.
  • Ability to follow directions and implement accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and related service providers.
  • Ability to collect data consistently.
  • Ability to consistently implement procedures of a behavior support plan.
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable to the principal, special education coordinator, or Director of Student Services.

We are seeking a team player to work in our specialized programs. Candidate must be able to attend and complete ABA training as part of this assignment.

  • Associate degree preferred.
