PositionSummary
We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer with 1–5 years of experience who's ready to get hands‑on with early‑stage ocean technology R&D. You'll work side‑by‑side with a multidisciplinary team designing, prototyping, and testing systems that operate in one of the toughest environments on Earth.
Responsibilities- Design and prototype mechanical and electromechanical systems for the ocean environment
- Use Solid Works to develop high‑quality CAD models and detailed fabrication drawings
- Build and test prototypes in our lab and at field sites (including ocean testing)
- Work closely with electrical and software engineers to integrate complete systems
- Analyze data, validate designs, and iterate quickly to improve performance
- Present results through concise reports, presentations, and design reviews
- B.S. in Mechanical, Ocean, or Robotics Engineering (or similar)
- 1–5 years of hands‑on engineering experience (internships or co‑ops count)
- Proficiency in Solid Works and mechanical design fundamentals
- Curiosity, initiative, and a passion for learning by building and testing
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑first mindset
- Experience designing for subsea or marine environments
- Familiarity with hydraulics, winches, pressure vessels, or ROVs
- Comfort working in a machine shop or lab environment
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, or design for manufacturability
- Exposure to DoD or Navy R&D programs
