WSP USA invites applications for the Highway Resident Engineer role. Eligible candidates will manage construction projects valued from $1M to $50M across the Boston, Worcester, Chelmsford, MA or Providence, RI regions.
Responsibilities- Lead a team of inspectors and material technicians, ensuring timely execution of excavation, back filling, concrete, MSE walls, guardrails, drainage, and sign structures.
- Maintain daily coordination with contractors, subcontractors, and the project owner, chairing progress meetings and preparing minutes.
- Interpret contract documents, review technical submittals and shop drawings, and oversee conformance to plans and specifications.
- Identify and resolve design and construction issues, anticipating schedule impacts and preparing unit price quantity calculations.
- Manage pay requisition development, review, and approval process, evaluating potential change orders and negotiating with the owner.
- Track daily progress with photographs, update red‑line drawings using Bluebeam, prepare punch lists, and coordinate final inspections.
- Exercise responsible decision‑making regarding company funds and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Uphold workplace safety, health, and compliance with WSP’s safety, drug, alcohol, and harassment policies.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 11 years of experience in highway construction management, including at least 4 years supervising staff.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, and compliance with WSP policies.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as ACI, NETTCP, or a willingness to obtain them within 3 months.
- Hands‑on experience with construction management software (Site, Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD) and Bluebeam.
- Proven supervisory experience and strong leadership skills.
- Relevant professional licenses or designations.
Salary range: $78,200 – $136,730 annually. WSP offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
