Job Summary
Irrigation Technician – Bright View Landscapes. Join a team that values excellence, teamwork, and innovation. We are looking for experienced technicians to install, maintain, and troubleshoot irrigation systems across a variety of sites, including crops, parks, gardens, and other green spaces.
Responsibilities- Conduct detailed irrigation inspections, documenting repairs and upgrades.
- Clean decorative water features and maintain overall site hygiene.
- Excavate and trench using hand tools and equipment such as trenches and soil compactors.
- Backfill, compact, and minimize spoil removal to preserve site aesthetics.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free work environment and work site.
- Maintain vehicle, tools, and equipment in an organized, well‑stocked condition.
- Train and mentor junior personnel on irrigation technical topics.
- Adjust and replace sprinkler types and nozzles, including check valves and PRS.
- Select and install conventional and HE nozzles, understanding precipitation rates.
- Cement weld PVC using ASME B31.1 bonding procedures.
- Repair lateral lines and PVC/ductile iron mainlines up to 6 inches.
- Replace and rebuild irrigation valves, including special customer requests.
- Conduct annual seasonal start‑up inspections, drip conversions, and winterizations.
- Install and program both conventional and smart controllers.
- Install rain sensors, soil moisture sensors, flow meters, and master valves (including Hydrometers).
- Complete water‑saving upgrades.
- Operate excavation equipment such as walk‑behind trenchers and soil compactors.
- Diagnose electrical issues using a multimeter and tone wires; trace underground wires and locate ground faults.
- Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve conventional irrigation problems.
- Record materials and labor used on each job.
- Wear proper PPE and adhere to all safety rules.
- 1–5 years of prior landscape irrigation experience (minimum).
- Knowledge of communication cable, radio hardware, and mechanical fittings.
- Understanding of irrigation controller hardware and two‑wire systems.
- Experience with brass valve rebuilds preferred.
- Resourceful, self‑starter, and detail oriented.
- TCEQ Irrigator's Tech license.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Training is offered; pay is negotiable.
- Ability to perform basic tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
- Capacity to lift and move up to 100 lbs occasionally and up to 50 lbs frequently or constantly.
- Strong visual acuity for operating equipment, inspecting work, and reviewing accuracy.
The position is primarily outdoors, exposed to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels.
Compensation$26 – $35 per hour, based on experience.
