Title - Tutors - After School (CHS) (SY25-26)General Duties:
Provide one‑on‑one and small group content‑specific tutoring and homework support for CHS students.
The Chelsea Public Schools (CPS) is a gateway school system that welcomes and educates all students and families. In CPS, we believe all children are capable of achieving their personal best by ensuring a safe and supportive environment for school and classroom environments. The school system educates over 6,300 students in 11 schools, including a pre‑K‑1st grade school, 4 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 2 high schools.

- Develop positive and nurturing relationships with 15‑20 students
- Maintain at minimum weekly contact with each student
- Help set, pursue and achieve academic and personal goals set by students
- Work in collaboration with teachers, administrators, parents, community members and other pieces of the students' support networks to help achieve student success
- Communicate clearly and sensitively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Support a culture of student support and academic excellence within and outside Chelsea High School
- Work with students to access resources including tutoring, counseling, healthcare, and extracurricular activities that support the students' personal development
- Emphasize career and college awareness through workshops, guest speakers and college visits.
- Minimum of a high school diploma. Current college students are encouraged to apply.
- Bilingual preferred - desired languages include Spanish, Haitian‑Creole, Arabic, Portuguese, Bosnian, Russian and Khmer
- Demonstrated experience and success working with young people in a variety of settings with a wide range of challenges.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the phone.
- Creativity, a sense of humor and a love of young people!
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
- Bilingual Spanish
This is a non‑bargaining unit position. The hours are on a part‑time basis, 19 hours per week with no benefits eligibility. The length of the school day is 6.5 hours, but subject to longer hours for schools with extended day. Vacation and sick time will be pro‑rated based on 19 hours/week.
