. This position is located at 151 Everett Avenue, MGH Chelsea outpatient imaging suite. One weekend per month plus other shifts as needed, onsite coverage.
Under general supervision, the MRI technologist will safely perform magnetic resonance imaging studies using a magnetic resonance imaging system. Responsibilities include preparing, positioning, and acquiring images, performing computer processing, and ensuring quality. The technologist selects appropriate imaging protocols, performs QA scans, and works cohesively with the MRI Department and content experts. Transitioning between scanners within the department as needed.
Responsibilities- Prepare patients and maintain accurate patient data (name, DOB, MRN, exam order).
- Position patients and set imaging parameters per protocol, acquire images, perform computer processing, and display images.
- Insert IV catheters and administer MR contrast agents with MR-compatible power injector, monitor for adverse reactions, and record in EMR.
- Perform point-of-care testing where applicable.
- Instruct patients on MRI safety procedures, enforce safety policies, and serve as final safety checkpoint.
- Identify hazardous malfunctions, secure area, and evacuate patients during emergencies.
- Perform scheduled QA procedures on MRI scanner, record results, and report equipment problems.
- Assist department staff with scheduling, transporting patients, inventory, filing, and other duties as required.
- Certificate/Diploma in medical imaging required.
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- MRI Registered Technologist with ARRT or ARMRIT within one year of certification.
- BLS certification within 90 days.
Per-diem weekend coverage; rotating shift. Pay range: $31.35 - $46.91 hourly. Grade 5.
