Accounts Senior/Assistant Manager – SUPERB ROLE
McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a fast‑growing Top
30 Accountancy Practice looking to strengthen its Rural Business Client Accounts team and recruit a Qualified ACA or Qualified ACCA Accounts Senior / Assistant Manager for its growing offices near Cheltenham. The role is client‑focused accountancy and advisory working within the farming, agriculture & rural estates team, reporting to one of the Accounting Managers.
- Deliver expert accountancy and tax guidance to farmers, landowners and related agri‑businesses across the UK.
- Manage your own client portfolio which may include agricultural enterprises, rural estates and landowners, food production and agribusinesses, farming and equestrian businesses.
- Oversee the preparation, completion and analysis of annual accounts and business tax computations.
- Provide advice on annual remuneration planning and profit forecasts for various businesses.
- Advise clients within the farming sector on capital taxes and review of VAT returns.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to add value, both in tax planning and broader commercial objectives.
- Mentor and support junior members of the team.
- Represent the company at various major agricultural/farming and other client events.
To be considered for the role, which will typically be 60% Accounts and 40% Tax/VAT, you should be a Qualified ACA or Qualified ACCA Accountant, ideally with 2+ years experience in the agricultural and rural business sector. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills are required, and as the role will be heavily client‑facing you should already be adept at developing strong client relationships within the sector.
You must also have a sound working knowledge of Excel, Xero and Sage.
Salary up to £55,000 depending on qualification and experience, with benefits that include company pension, healthcare and 25 days holiday. The firm will happily consider candidates who may be interested in relocating to the Cheltenham/Gloucester/Bristol area from other parts of the UK.
