Accountant, Tax Accountant, Financial Reporting

A well-established and growing accountancy practice in Cheltenham, providing accountancy, tax and business advisory services to a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs, partnerships and private clients across the region are seeking an experienced Accountant to join their friendly and professional team. This is an excellent opportunity for a practice-trained accountant looking to develop their technical expertise and build long-term client relationships.

Your new role
You will manage a portfolio of clients, preparing accounts and tax returns while providing proactive support and advice to businesses across a range of sectors. The role offers a blend of technical accountancy work, client interaction and opportunities to support the development of junior team members.

Preparation and review of statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
Preparation of corporation tax returns and personal tax returns.
Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as their main point of contact.
Producing management accounts and financial reports.
Assisting clients with bookkeeping and cloud accounting software.
Providing business and financial advice to support client growth.
Liaising directly with HMRC on client matters.
Reviewing work prepared by junior members of staff.
Supporting year-end accounting and compliance requirements.
Identifying opportunities to improve client processes and efficiencies.
Assisting Managers and Partners with advisory projects and client meetings.
Ensuring compliance deadlines are met accurately and on time.
What you'll need to succeed

ACA, ACCA or qualified by experience.
Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
Strong accounts preparation skills.
Experience preparing corporation tax and personal tax returns.
Good working knowledge of UK accounting standards.
Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
Proficiency in Excel and accounting software.

Desirable

Experience using Xero, Sage, Quick Books or Iris.
Exposure to management accounts and business advisory work.
Experience reviewing junior staff work.
Knowledge of cloud accounting solutions
