Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant Banbury | £33,000 to £38,000  up to 5% bonus | Office based | Permanent Looking for a hands-on accounting role where no two days are the same? Our client, a well-established global engineering manufacturer based in Banbury, is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join finance team. This is a newly created role, brought in to support the Finance Manager as the business continues to grow.

What's on offer Salary of £33,000 to £38,000, depending on experience Discretionary bonus of up to 5% Early finish every Friday at 12:45 25 days holiday plus bank holidays A varied, all-round role with exposure to group and international reporting A supportive team, led by managers who have made the move from practice to industry themselves The Asiistant Accountant role Supporting month end close to tight group reporting deadlines, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations Processing multi-currency transactions, journals and revaluations Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations Preparing the monthly VAT return Supporting forecasting, budgeting and performance reporting Assisting with internal and external audits Reviewing employee expenses against company policy Providing cover for purchase and sales ledger when needed What you'll need as an Assistant Accountant Around 5 years' experience in an accounting or finance role Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping

Experience with multi-currency transactions (highly desirable)

Experience with intercompany reconciliations and VAT returns Confident Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables AAT Level 3 or 4, or qualified by experience A self-starter who's happy to get stuck into every part of the finance function US GAAP, SOX or manufacturing experience would be a bonus, but full training is available. Candidates moving from practice into industry are also encouraged to apply.
