Role Title Principal Business Analyst / Head of Business Change SFIA Level 6 Role Purpose
The Principal Business Analyst / Head of Business Change provides leadership for business analysis and change across programmes, portfolios or major service transformations. The role shapes how value is defined, how change is designed and how benefits are sustained in operation, ensuring a clear line of sight from strategic intent to service performance and continual improvement.
How the Role Contributes Across Think / Plan / Do / Run- Think: sets the analysis and change strategy, leading definition of outcomes, benefits frameworks, strategic priorities and value propositions
- Plan: oversees the use of user journeys, value streams, target operating models, service design and governance to shape deliverable change
- Do: assures implementation, service transition, readiness, sequencing and organisational adoption across multiple work streams
- Run: ensures performance measures, service management disciplines and improvement mechanisms are embedded into live services and governance
- Set the approach for business analysis and business change across major transformation activity
- Lead executive workshops, stakeholder engagement and decision support
- Define benefits, outcomes, risks, assumptions and measures of success
- Oversee user-centred design, service design and organisational impact analysis
- Shape SIAM-related roles, responsibilities and governance arrangements where relevant
- Assure service transition, change readiness and operating model adoption across programmes
- Lead capability development, quality standards and mentoring across the BA/BC community
- Support customers with prioritisation, sequencing and strategic decision-making
- Analysis and business change strategies
- Enterprise or programme-level benefits frameworks

Capability standards, methods and templates
- Extensive experience leading business analysis and business change in complex transformation settings
- Deep understanding of benefits realisation, user-centred design, service design and organisational change
- Strong knowledge of service management disciplines, including service transition, service improvement and service integration
- Experience shaping SIAM or multi-supplier governance environments
- Strong strategic thinking with practical delivery credibility
- Able to influence senior stakeholders and lead multidisciplinary teams
