Overview

Bring your PMO experience. Strengthen delivery. Make an impact.

At AtkinsRéalis, our PMO teams help bring structure, control and confidence to complex programmes. As a PMO Consultant within our Secure Government practice, you'll support delivery across important projects that contribute to national security and resilience, applying your existing PMO experience in a challenging and rewarding client environment.

You'll join a collaborative PMO community and work alongside delivery, technical, commercial and transformation specialists who value strong controls, continuous improvement and shared learning. It's'a chance to develop your experience in a supportive environment while contributing to high-profile client outcomes.

We are recruiting for multiple PMO Consultant roles across a range of consultant levels. We welcome candidates with transferable skills from project-based environments, established PMO generalists, and PMO specialists in areas such as planning, reporting, governance, controls, finance, risk, benefits, change and assurance. Some roles may include emerging workstream, people or technical leadership, but these are not senior PMO leadership roles.

You'll benefit from:

  • Purpose‑driven work at the heart of secure‑government delivery.
  • Hybrid working, with most time onsite to build relationships, access secure systems and operate effectively in high‑integrity delivery environments.
  • Clear opportunities to develop your PMO capability, build confidence in your area, and progress over time as your experience grows.
  • Advanced training, tools and frameworks, including financial controls, risk and assurance, planning, PMO transformation and change.
  • The AtkinsRéalis Certified Project Professional (ACPP) fast‑track route to APM Chartership.
  • A supportive PMO community with access to experienced colleagues, mentoring and practical development opportunities.
  • Inclusive networks (Women in Defence, Military networks, DE&I groups).
  • Meaningful work during the vetting process, if clearance is required.
Your role

As a PMO Consultant within our Delivery Optimisation sub-practice, you'll work in client-facing delivery environments where structure, insight and reliable controls matter. The scope of each role will reflect your experience, from supporting PMO activities through to leading defined work streams or small teams where appropriate.

You may support reporting cycles, coordinate governance forums, manage risks and issues, support planning and scheduling, contribute to financial tracking, or help improve delivery controls and assurance. You'll be expected to operate professionally with clients and contribute to high-quality, consistent delivery.

All our roles are subject to a minimum of 3 days in the office, either onsite with our clients or at one of our AtkinsRéalis offices, (pro-rata'd for part‑time employees).

About you

You'll bring relevant PMO, project delivery or project coordination experience, with the ability to apply practical judgement in structured delivery environments. For developing consultant roles, this may include transferable skills such as coordination, reporting, planning support, governance administration, document control, stakeholder engagement or data management. For more established roles, we'll look for stronger PMO capability, specialist depth and, where appropriate, the ability to lead defined activities or support junior colleagues.

Alongside this, you'll ideally bring:

  • Relevant PMO, project delivery or project coordination experience.
  • Experience supporting or leading PMO activities such as reporting, governance, planning, controls, assurance, finance, benefits, change or risk management.
  • Broad PMO generalist capability or deeper specialism in one or more PMO disciplines.
  • The ability to work with data and tools such as Excel, Power BI, MS Project or similar to support effective decision‑making.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with project teams, stakeholders and clients in a structured and professional way.
  • An understanding of PMO frameworks, delivery life cycles and the importance of robust controls in complex environments.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach,…
