Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning? A rewarding opportunity has become available for a Youth Worker to join a specialist educational setting based in Cheltenham, supporting children and young people with additional needs
This Youth Worker role offers the chance to work in a highly supportive specialist school environment where mental health, wellbeing, and personalised support are central to everything they do. The school, located in the Cheltenham area, is well-regarded for its nurturing approach and strong emphasis on building positive relationships with students.
Many of the young people you will support may experience social, emotional, and mental health challenges alongside learning difficulties. Some students may have autism, communication needs, or additional diagnoses that impact their ability to access mainstream education. Working as a Youth Worker in Cheltenham, you will help create a safe and structured environment where students feel understood and supported.
As a Youth Worker, you will:
- Support students aged 2-19 across both primary and secondary provisions
- Help young people who may struggle with emotional regulation, behaviour, or social interaction
- Provide consistent mentoring and positive role modelling throughout the school day
- Work alongside teachers and SEN professionals to implement tailored support

- Help maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Adapt your approach depending on individual needs
The ideal Candidate:
- Kind, patient, and genuinely passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
- Calm and resilient, with strong emotional intelligence
- Confident building relationships with students with additional needs
- Able to problem solve and take initiative
- Aware of safeguarding responsibilities within education
- Eligible to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available)
Previous experience working with children, youth work, care, or support roles is beneficial but not essential for this Cheltenham-based opportunity.
