French Language Assistant

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Approximate pro-rota salary for 15 hours per week: £10,177.67 to £10,690.52 per annum

Position: Foreign Language Assistant (French)

SCP Points: 15 £ 30,023.98 - 18 £ 31,536.89 per annum, approximately 15 hours per week. There is an opportunity for flexibility in the hours and potential for a job share for the right candidates.

The Post

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate effective practice in developing the speaking and writing of students of French, the ability to deliver targeted intervention to support and challenge students of different levels, and a willingness to contribute to the whole staff team. We are recruiting for a Foreign Language Assistant in French to work with students up to A-Level.

Flexibility and the ability to motivate and encourage are essential qualities, along with energy and capacity for hard work. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of effective practice and be committed to enabling all students to access the curriculum in order to fulfil their academic potential.

You would be joining a flourishing department, where there will be great opportunities to learn, train and develop.

For an experienced candidate, we would look to start you on a higher point within the salary scale.

Languages at Cleeve

Languages are highly valued at Cleeve and there is a keen interest by the Executive Head and Board of Trustees to continue to increase student uptake and develop international links and events across the curriculum. Outcomes in MFL have significantly improved over the years, and the Department is moving from strength to strength. We currently have 10 classes of students studying languages at KS4 and teach both French and Spanish to KS5, with our Sixth Form Centre of Excellence recently being recognised as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

The Department has an extremely well-resourced subject area, with attractive teaching rooms, an excellent range of teaching resources, and a great network with local schools, including feeder primary schools with which we run language-specific outreach events.
