Location: Cheltenham (Hybrid working available)

The OpportunityFuture Gen Recruitment is representing an ambitious and growing planning consultancy based in the South West that delivers high-profile and technically challenging projects across residential, mixed-use, regeneration, infrastructure, and strategic development.
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Town Planner with a strong planning background and the confidence to lead on significant projects, support business growth, and work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams.
What You’ll Be DoingIn this varied and senior role you’ll be expected to:
Lead on key planning applications from inception to delivery
Prepare high-quality planning statements, design and access statements, and supporting planning documentation
Manage client relationships and develop new business opportunities
Coordinate with internal teams (design, urbanism, environmental and transport specialists) and external stakeholders
Provide sound technical planning advice across a mix of strategic and development management work
Represent projects at pre-application meetings, committee hearings and public consultations
Mentor and support more junior planners and contribute to team growth
What You’ll BringA recognised planning qualification (relevant degree or equivalent)
Chartered (or near Chartered) membership of the RTPI
2+ years’ relevant planning experience
, ideally including major or mixed-use development and strategic work
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong project and client management capability
Commercial awareness and a proactive mindset
Ability to balance technical detail with commercial outcomes
