, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team where you'll support us in ensuring the ongoing integrity, performance and compliance of our products across their full lifecycle. This role will be based at our Bishops Cleeve site.
As a Mechanical Engineer at Ontic, you’ll provide technical support across the full product lifecycle, from new product introduction through to in-service support and eventual retirement. Working within a highly regulated aerospace environment, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our products remain compliant, reliable and fit for purpose.
You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and external customers to maintain design conformance, support engineering changes, and respond to challenges such as material obsolescence or regulatory updates. The role involves reviewing and interpreting technical documentation, implementing engineering changes through formal processes, and supporting redesign activities to meet technical, quality, cost and delivery objectives.
Alongside this, you’ll be responsible for investigating technical issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions, while producing clear and accurate engineering documentation to support decision‑making and compliance.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you’ll be a capable Mechanical Engineer with experience gained in a design, manufacturing or technical support environment, ideally within aerospace or another regulated industry. You’ll be comfortable working with technical drawings and understanding original design intent, with a strong analytical approach to problem solving and engineering decision making.
You’ll bring knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes, along with an understanding of key principles such as GD&T and tolerance analysis. Experience using CAD tools such as Solid Works and Windchill would be beneficial, as would exposure to engineering calculations and design evaluation activities.
Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll be working with a range of stakeholders and producing clear, high‑quality technical documentation. Experience supporting NPI or design evaluation activities would be advantageous.
