Sales Engineer

We are seeking a Technical Proposals Engineer to join our team, supporting the delivery of technically robust and commercially competitive quotations. Reporting to the Internal Technical Sales Manager, you will play a key role in managing opportunities, producing high-quality proposals, and providing technical sales support to both internal stakeholders and external customers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an engineering background who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment and wants to contribute to business growth through technical expertise and strong commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities- Produce accurate and competitive technical and commercial proposals in line with customer requirements.
- Manage and progress sales opportunities, including pre‑qualification and follow‑up activities.
- Use CRM systems and internal tools effectively to manage pipeline and documentation.
- Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure solutions meet requirements.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and support value‑add initiatives.
- Monitor and meet key performance indicators, including proposal accuracy and conversion rates.
- Identify and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
- Effectively prioritise workload and manage time to meet deadlines.
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders, highlighting risks, challenges, and opportunities.
- Take ownership of personal development through training and professional development opportunities.
- Experience in steam engineering or a related engineering/product environment is desirable.
- Proven experience working in a fast‑paced sales or technical support environment.
- Demonstrated customer‑facing experience, either via phone or in‑person.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of customer requirements.
- HNC (or above) in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- A collaborative and proactive approach to problem‑solving and process improvement.
- Ability to manage priorities and work independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
