Join Whyte Bikes – A Premium British Brand Shaping the Future of Cycling

For over 25 years, Whyte Bikes has been redefining what riders can expect from a bicycle. From award‑winning mountain bike geometry to cutting‑edge e‑bikes and standout gravel bikes, our mission is simple: to engineer the very best riding experience possible.

Backed by new investment and ambitious growth plans for 2026 and beyond, we're expanding our Product Development team and are looking for an exceptional Industrial/Product Designer to help shape the next generation of Whyte Bikes.

If you're passionate about great design, obsessed with detail, and excited by the opportunity to create innovative products that riders love, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As our Industrial/Product Designer, you'll play a key role in designing the next generation of Whyte bicycles, with a strong focus on our growing e‑bike range.

Based in our R&D office in Cheltenham, you will be working closely with our Engineering, Graphics and Product teams, transforming ideas, rider insights and geometry concepts into beautifully executed, manufacturable products. From initial concept sketches through to production‑ready designs, you'll take ownership of complete frame architecture, component integration and visual identity, ensuring every product delivers outstanding performance, functionality and aesthetics.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future design language of one of Britain's leading premium cycling brands while working on products that push the boundaries of innovation.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Collaborating with Engineering to evaluate emerging technologies, define new product briefs and develop concepts through to production.
  • Transforming geometry schematics into visually compelling, production‑ready bicycle designs.
  • Owning the complete 3D frame design, influencing the overall shape, architecture, form and visual identity of each bike.
  • Driving continuous improvements to our prototyping capabilities, including evaluating new 3D printing technologies and identifying prototype suppliers.
  • Leading the industrial design of our e‑bike platforms, integrating the latest drive systems into efficient and elegant frame solutions.
  • Developing and evolving Whyte's distinctive industrial design language across our product range.
  • Designing frame systems and components including battery removal mechanisms, ancillary rubber components and other key parts, ensuring consistency across the range.
  • Working closely with the Graphics team to create a seamless relationship between industrial design and graphic design.
  • Building, evaluating and refining prototype and production frame samples.
  • Collaborating with Engineering to ensure all products meet the latest international safety and quality standards.
What We're Looking For

You'll be a creative thinker with excellent technical ability and a genuine passion for designing world‑class consumer products.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A BSc level degree in a related field.
  • 3‑5 years' experience in an Industrial or Product Design role, ideally within a product design consultancy or consumer products environment.
  • Proven experience taking products from concept through to manufacture.
  • Strong Design for Manufacture (DFM) knowledge.
  • Experience producing and reviewing 2D engineering drawings, applying tolerances and conducting T1 sample inspections.
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing processes including injection moulding, CNC machining, casting and additive manufacturing (3D printing).
  • Experience designing with composite materials (desirable).
  • High proficiency in 3D CAD, surface modelling and managing large assemblies.
  • Excellent product visualisation and rendering skills.
  • Strong sketching and concept communication skills, with the ability to quickly visualise and present ideas.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a practical understanding of bicycle assembly, prototyping and 3D printing.
  • The ability to work independently while thriving within a collaborative, high‑performing product development team.
Why Join Whyte Bikes?

This is more than a design role—it's an opportunity to shape products that inspire riders around the world.

You'll join a passionate, collaborative team where innovation is encouraged, ideas are valued, and every project contributes to building one of Britain's most respected cycling brands.

In return, we offer:

  • A collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • The chance to influence the future of one of the UK's leading cycling brands.
  • Career development opportunities within an ambitious and growing business.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
Ready to Create the Next Generation of Whyte Bikes?

If you're excited by the challenge of designing innovative bicycles that combine exceptional performance with outstanding design, we'd love to hear from you.
