Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is recruiting an Electronic Test Engineer for our Production Engineering team. The role will be based at our Bishop Cleeve, Cheltenham site with occasional travel for new licences (1–2 weeks).

Role Overview

As an Electronics Test Engineer, you will set up, validate, and optimise advanced electronic test equipment to ensure reliable testing of aerospace systems such as fuel measurement, audio communications, propeller control, radar, avionics, cockpit instruments, engine management, and more. You will troubleshoot and debug electronic assemblies (PCBAs) to component level, identify root causes, and contribute to continuous product and process improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, validate, and optimise advanced electronic test equipment.
  • Ensure reliable testing of a diverse range of aerospace systems.
  • Troubleshoot and debug electronic assemblies to component level.
  • Identify root causes of faults and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with Production Engineering, Quality, Sustainment Engineering, Test Equipment Engineering, and external suppliers.
Qualifications
  • Experience as an Electronics Technician or Test Engineer with a passion for electronics and problem‑solving.
  • HNC/HND/Degree (or equivalent) qualification in Electronics, or working towards one.
  • Experience in analogue and/or digital electronic products and supporting production through fault finding and testing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to liaise with internal departments and external suppliers.
  • Previous experience in the aerospace industry is an advantage but not essential.
