CYPS CAAAS Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
CYPS CAAAS Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist – part‑time (22.5 hours per week) offered by Saarthy Travel Solutions. This role is part of a developing multi‑agency team within the Children & Young People Service (CYPS) Directorate, working alongside paediatricians, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists and educators to deliver evidence‑based autism and/or ADHD assessments and interventions in line with NICE guidance.
The successful candidate will:
- Communicate fluidly in multidisciplinary arena, taking active role in diagnostic decision making and needs planning.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge and skills around assessment and differential diagnosis of children, young people and families with autism and ADHD.
- Interpret and analyse complex information for wide audiences to drive continuous improvement and service development.
- Maintain close links with local services and offer high‑quality clinical supervision and consultation to professionals.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and contribute to multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with carers, parents and education staff to maximise impact of intervention.
- Provide guidance for environmental intervention, parent/child interaction, linguistic modification, group intervention and augmentative strategies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assess, diagnose and advise on interventions for children referred to the caseload, following policies of Gloucestershire Health and Care Services NHS Trust.
- Deliver Speech & Language Therapy to a caseload of children aged 0–19 referred to the Autism and ADHD service.
- Structure clear care plans based on evidence from formal and dynamic assessments.
- Analyse complex data to inform case management and design appropriate interventions.
- Work autonomously and co‑operatively with multi‑agency staff to deliver timely interventions.
- Provide training and supervision to SLT students, assistants and volunteers.
- Negotiate effectively to resolve conflicts and manage competing demands within an unpredictable workload.
- Communicate complex findings to families and educational specialists in a supportive manner.
- Collaborate with a wide range of professionals, including health visitors, community paediatricians, special educator coordinators, educational psychologists, social services colleagues, head teachers and school staff.
Qualifications and Experience
:
- Highly specialist speech and language therapy qualifications and relevant registration.
- Experience working as part of an MDT providing autism and/or ADHD assessments and interventions.
- Evidence of partnership working with education and health colleagues.
- Strong clinical skills in tailoring interventions and care plans.
- Experience in differential diagnosis within mental health and complex language profiles.
