We are recruiting confidentially for a Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist neurological centre based in Gloucester, within easy commuting distance of Gloucester, Cheltenham, and surrounding areas. This service provides specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy support for individuals with complex long-term neurological conditions in a highly supportive and collaborative environment.
The centre specialises in slow-stream rehabilitation, with a strong focus on maximising each individual's functional ability, comfort, and quality of life. The service is well equipped, with adapted bedrooms, high-dependency equipment, specialist therapy facilities, gardens, gym facilities, and transport resources to support rehabilitation and engagement.
In this role, you will lead therapeutic group sessions and deliver one-to-one interventions, supporting service users to develop and improve their speech, language, communication, and swallowing skills. You will build strong therapeutic relationships, encourage engagement, and empower recovery through person-centred care. You will manage a designated caseload, completing specialist assessments, planning and implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes in line with individual care plans.
You will demonstrate specialist clinical skills when working with complex neurological presentations, cultural and linguistic differences, and dysphagia. The role includes contributing to audits and service development activity, supporting evidence-based practice, and applying specialist knowledge in areas such as acquired communication and swallowing disorders. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and benefit from support from a wider regional network of healthcare professionals, alongside access to a variety of training and development opportunities.
To be considered, you must be HCPC registered and have experience managing a caseload involving the assessment and treatment of dysphagia. Experience working with families and carers is essential, along with clear evidence of continuing professional development. A proactive, collaborative, and compassionate approach to care is key to success in this role.
The role offers an annual salary of £45,996, along with a welcome bonus of £3,600. Additional benefits include 33 days annual leave including bank holidays plus your birthday off, career development and training opportunities, wellbeing support, access to a wide range of discounts and rewards, life assurance, pension contribution, 24/7 GP access and second medical opinion services, enhanced maternity benefits, financial wellbeing support, and free or subsidised meals with onsite or local parking.
If you are looking for a confidential opportunity where you can make a meaningful difference within specialist neurological care while continuing to develop your clinical expertise, I would welcome a confidential conversation. Please reply to this email or contact me directly to discuss further details.
