HR Manager
Cheltenham | Full-time | Permanent
£40,000?£50,000+ per annum, depending on experience
We are recruiting an experienced HR Manager for a successful and rapidly growing specialist business based in Cheltenham. With continued expansion, investment and further recruitment planned, this is an important appointment supporting a growing workforce across production, warehouse, technical, commercial and operational functions. This is a broad, hands-on HR role requiring someone who can combine strong HR knowledge with a practical and commercially aware approach, working closely with senior management to support both employees and the wider business.
The Role- Overseeing day-to-day HR processes across the business
- Providing HR advice and guidance to managers and employees
- Managing recruitment and workforce planning
- Managing onboarding for new employees
- Coordinating compliance requirements, including safety, medical and background checks
- Managing employee relations matters
- Managing absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance processes
- Reviewing and developing HR policies and procedures
- Supporting training and employee development
- Maintaining accurate HR documentation and employee records
- Supporting salary and benefits reviews
- Developing employee engagement and retention initiatives
- Supporting succession and workforce planning
- Ensuring HR practices remain compliant with current UK employment legislation
- Helping maintain a positive, supportive and team-oriented workplace culture
- Previous senior-level HR experience
- Experience as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner or similar
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
- Experience managing recruitment and onboarding
- Experience dealing confidently with employee relations matters
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The confidence to advise and appropriately challenge managers
- A practical, hands-on and commercially aware approach
- Experience with in manufacturing, engineering, logistics, construction or another operational environment would be particularly advantageous.
- The successful candidate will need to demonstrate proven reliability, strong references and an appreciation of the importance of safety and compliance within an operational environment.
