The Role We are seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Cloud & Infrastructure team. This role is responsible for the implementation, support, automation, and continuous improvement of our Microsoft Azure cloud platform, ensuring services are secure, resilient, scalable, and cost-effective.
Working within a collaborative technology environment, you will provide technical expertise across Azure infrastructure, networking, security, identity management, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and governance. You'll also play a key role in driving automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Design, implement, support, and optimise Azure cloud infrastructure and platform services.
Deliver secure, resilient, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions aligned to business requirements.
Provision and manage Azure resources using Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform) and automation tools.
Support cloud migration, modernisation, and transformation initiatives.
Implement and maintain cloud security, identity, access controls, and governance standards.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve Azure platform incidents, problems, and service requests.
Maintain backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery capabilities.
Implement monitoring, alerting, performance, capacity, and availability management across the Azure estate.
Optimise cloud performance, utilisation, operational efficiency, and cost.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
Collaborate with internal teams and third-party suppliers to deliver high-quality cloud services. Contribute to continual service improvement, automation, and operational maturity initiatives.
Skills & Experience Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure, networking, storage, security, and platform services.
Proven experience supporting and administering enterprise Azure environments.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies including Bicep and Terraform. Automation and scripting skills using Power Shell or similar technologies. Experience migrating workloads from on-premises environments to Azure. Strong understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, and governance principles. Knowledge of Fin Ops, cloud consumption management, and cost optimisation techniques.
Experience with monitoring, performance management, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work collaboratively across technical teams and third-party providers. Commitment to continuous learning, service improvement, and engineering best practice. Desirable
