Lead DevOps & Automation Engineer

Location: Cheltenham, Manchester, London or Scarborough (Fully Site-Based)

We are seeking an experienced Lead Dev Ops & Automation Engineer to take ownership of our Dev Ops and Automation capabilities across secure, enterprise-scale environments.

This is a leadership role, combining technical expertise with people management and strategic direction. You'll lead a team of talented engineers, champion Dev Ops best practices, drive automation initiatives, and help shape the future of our infrastructure and delivery capabilities.

Working in highly secure environments, you'll play a key role in delivering innovative solutions, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the professional development of your team.

• Lead and develop a high-performing Dev Ops team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
• Build, embed, and mature Dev Ops practices and ways of working across the account.
• Design and implement automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using industry best practices.
• Create and support services, scripts, and configurations that enable automated infrastructure provisioning and management.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and hands-on support throughout project life cycles.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support fault resolution activities.
• Demonstrable experience leading Dev Ops, Automation, or Platform Engineering teams.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across infrastructure, automation pipelines, and integrated systems.
• Proven ability to take ownership of automation initiatives from concept through to delivery.
• Extensive experience working with Microsoft technologies and Linux platforms within secure, highly available enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code tools such as:
• Ansible
• Terraform
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using technologies such as:
• Power Shell
• Python
• Bash
• A proactive approach to identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
