Assistant Manager – Audit (Charities & Not‑for‑Profit Sector) – Midlands Office
OverviewAs an Assistant Manager, you will lead audit teams, manage a portfolio of external audit clients, and provide proactive service throughout the year. The role involves business development, project management, and mentoring team members while maintaining high quality standards and client relationships.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and manage audit teams to ensure planned work is completed within agreed budget and timescales.
- Serve as the principal contact for clients, delivering proactive and year‑round audit services.
- Plan and time‑manage own work and client appointments to meet tight deadlines.
- Prepare and present audit reports to senior management, Audit Committees, and Boards.
- Direct, coach, and mentor audit teams to support engagement delivery.
- Engage in business development, building and maintaining a professional network.
- Contribute to proposals and presentations for new work and potential wider assurance services.
- Participate in firm‑wide activities, training opportunities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Qualified ACA, ICAS, or ACCA.
- Strong technical knowledge of auditing and accounting standards.
- Experience with charity audits and the not‑for‑profit sector (knowledge of Charities SORP advantageous).
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Excellent people‑management skills with a proven ability to coach and mentor junior colleagues.
- Passion for working in the not‑for‑profit sector.
