Sudeley Castle and Gardens are currently seeking a Senior Gardener to join the Gardening team!
The successful candidate will be supporting the maintenance and development of Sudeley Castle Gardens to the highest standard, deputising for the Head Gardener, managing volunteers, and overseeing key garden areas and projects, including the holiday cottage gardens.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:- Undertaking practical gardening tasks to maintain all areas and features, including lawns, herbaceous borders, roses, and hedges, through mowing, weeding, strimming, pruning, planting, watering, and leaf clearance
- Managing and developing a team of volunteer gardeners, including coordinating tasks, providing guidance and training, and fostering a positive and productive gardening environment
- Participating in garden events, leading guided tours to educate our visitors into the Sudeley story when it comes to its glorious gardens
- Safely using appropriate powered equipment in relation to the maintenance of garden areas and features, including ride-on mower and tractor
- At least five years’ practical experience of working in professional horticulture or in a similar setting
- Expertise in cultivation techniques, from propagation and pruning to pest control
- The passion and knowledge for garden plants, flowers and trees
- A keen eye for detail, well organised, and the ability to work effectively without supervision
- Strong communication skills, demonstrating professionalism and reliability
Please note, this is a full time role totalling 37.5 hours per week needing flexibility to cover weekends and holidays and offers an annual salary of £30,000.
