Gloucestershire Youth Support Service – Youth Worker (0 Hour Sessional Contract)

Location:

Gloucestershire – Service will be delivered from Whaddon Youth Centre (Cheltenham), Tewkesbury Youth Centre (Tewkesbury) and surrounding area. Hours will be irregular, including late evenings, early mornings and weekends; travel within Cheltenham and Tewkesbury is required.

Salary: £14.34 per hour. Permanent position funded until March 2029.

Role Overview

As a Youth Worker you will provide one-to-one and group support to children and young people who urgently need assistance, helping them to transition into adulthood. Your day-to-day work will involve developing innovative practice, building trusting relationships and maintaining professional boundaries with vulnerable young people and those with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver one-to-one and group support to children and young people.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships while safeguarding children’s welfare.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with the Youth Impact Domain team.
  • Develop inclusive practice and support vulnerable young people with complex needs.
  • Contribute to innovative practice and service development across Gloucestershire.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Direct experience working with children and young people on a one-to-one basis and in group settings (professional or voluntary).
  • Ability to build relationships and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable young people and those with complex needs.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of youth work, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Experience of working independently and as part of a team in youth work.
  • Experience in developing inclusive practice.
  • Relevant work experience in Youth Work, Social Care, Family Support, Youth Offending, Connexions or Education.
