Location: Cheltenham (Hybrid)

A growing technology organisation delivering secure digital solutions within the Defence and National Security sector is seeking a Software Engineer to join its collaborative engineering team in Cheltenham.
This is an opportunity to work on mission‑critical systems that support real operational outcomes, solving complex technical challenges within highly secure environments. The role offers exposure to modern technologies, rapid innovation projects, and secure‑by‑design development practices.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain secure software solutions
- Develop Android applications using Kotlin Jetpack Compose
- Build backend services and APIs using technologies such as Rust, Python, or Go
- Work with containerised environments using Docker
- Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and delivery teams
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
- Develop proof‑of‑concept applications within fast‑paced delivery environments
- Commercial software engineering experience
- Strong experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
- Experience developing front‑end applications with Android Kotlin
- Familiarity with backend development using Rust, Python, or Go
- Understanding of software development principles, APIs, and modern architectures
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work effectively within secure development environments
- Experience with in Defence, National Security, or secure environments
- Knowledge of Dev Ops and cloud‑native development practices
- Experience building scalable backend systems and APIs
- Comfortable working on rapidly evolving proof‑of‑concept projects
