Senior Platform Engineer

We are seeking a Senior
Platform Engineer to join our team building secure, scalable and highly automated platforms that support the UK's most demanding security and performance challenges. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing and operating modern cloud-native platforms, with a passion for automation, infrastructure-as-code, Dev Sec Ops  practices and developer enablement.
You will work across a range of customer and internal platforms, helping to build reliable delivery pipelines, secure engineering workflows and resilient infrastructure. You will be comfortable operating at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure and security, using automation to remove friction and enable teams to deliver safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain secure cloud-native platforms that enable rapid and reliable software delivery.
• Develop and improve automation frameworks for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management and operational workflows.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with security integrated throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Implement Dev Sec Ops  practices, embedding security controls into engineering processes and delivery pipelines.
• Work across greenfield and brownfield platform engineering projects.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions using modern tooling and engineering practices.
• Improve platform reliability, observability and operational maturity through automation and engineering excellence.
• Work closely with developers, architects and security teams to understand challenges and deliver pragmatic solutions.
• Champion platform engineering principles, self-service capabilities and developer experience improvements.
• Design and implement secure software supply chain practices including vulnerability management, dependency scanning and automated compliance checks.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment and operational issues.
• Contribute to technical direction, architecture discussions and engineering standards.

Requirements Essential

• Proven experience building and operating cloud platforms in production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with automation and infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi or equivalent).
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using modern tooling.
• Strong understanding of Dev Sec Ops  principles and integrating security into software delivery workflows.
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging and observability solutions.
• Ability to work effectively across engineering, security and customer teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to operate in complex and ambiguous environments.
• A pragmatic engineering mindset with a focus on delivering secure, maintainable solutions.
• UK NATIONAL

Desirable

• Experience building developer platforms or internal developer platforms (IDPs).
• Experience with the Coder platform or similar remote development environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes platform engineering and cluster lifecycle management.
• AWS Certifications at Associate level or above.
• Experience with security tooling such as SAST, DAST, SBOM generation, vulnerability scanning or policy-as-code.
• Experience working in high-security or regulated environments.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects.
• Experience of using AI Agents and understanding of AI Governance in secure environments.
