Job Summary

The College of Health Science & Public Health seeks a tenure‑track faculty, Open Rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) for the School of Nursing. The appointment will start on August 16, 2026 for the Fall Semester of the 2025‑2026 academic year and will continue as a nine‑month academic year appointment. Appointment rank will depend on qualifications.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Terminal degree in nursing or a related field at the time of appointment
  • Unencumbered Washington registered nurse license, or eligible for licensure
  • Current healthcare provider CPR certification
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach supportive of universal access to students, faculty, staff, and the public
  • Six or more years of successful professional experience (required for Associate Professor rank)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five or more years of recent clinical experience
  • One or more years of prior experience teaching in a clinical, laboratory, or simulated learning environment
  • Experience with Canvas or another learning management system
Job Duties
  • Develop a Faculty Activity Plan (FAP) by the end of the first semester, combining teaching, research, service, and administrative duties as negotiated.
  • Teach nursing courses in classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulated learning environments using a concept‑based approach.
  • Meet all scheduled classes, plan, organize, and inform students of course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations, and evaluation methods.
  • Schedule and attend office hours, turn in grades according to established deadlines, and assess student learning.
  • Engage in research for publication, grant acquisition, and presentations; serve on departmental, college, university, and professional committees.
  • Participate in outreach to the community and demonstrate teaching excellence, professional growth, and service.
  • Maintain 24 academic credits per year (80% workload) subject to departmental needs.
Conditions of Employment

Continuity of the position depends on approval by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission and an approved state budget. Candidates must be available to start no later than August 16, 2026 and must pass a background check. The university requires compliance with its Immunization Policy 602‑02 and mandates proof of MMR immunity before beginning work. Special training will be available via Canvas and Workplace Belonging training will commence December 1 and be completed by March 31, 2026.

Salary and Benefits

Assistant Professor: $76,368;
Associate Professor: $88,997. Additional benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, tuition waiver for employees and eligible family members, discounted sports tickets, campus fitness facilities, free STA bus transportation, and other fringe benefits.
