We are currently seeking a skilled and team‑oriented Program Specialist 2 – Area Health Education Center (AHEC) to manage and promote the AHEC outreach program. The role involves interpreting and applying AHEC policies, serving as liaison to participants and outside entities, and coordinating program activities under the supervision of the Director. The position will oversee day‑to‑day operations, develop plans for program activities, and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one (1) year of full‑time work experience assisting in program execution
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License and private automotive insurance (prior to hire)
- Experience working with students in K‑12 grades
- Experience working with community‑based organizations and industry partners
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with outside organizations
- Strong computer skills using a variety of applications (Word, Excel, data systems, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public
- Two (2) or more years college coursework, and/or a Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with student recruitment or other types of student outreach activities
- Experience with data collection, compiling data, preparing and disseminating reports
- Provide information and technical assistance to program participants, staff, and outside agencies regarding program content, policies, and activities and recommend alternative courses of action; promote the program with outside organizations and resources.
- Attend meetings and/or conferences as the program representative; develop and make public presentations on programs such as AHEC Scholars.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a website relating to health careers, scholarships, and educational resources.
- Meet regularly with outside entities regarding the implementation of program policies; participate in establishing program standards, identifying areas for program development.
- Monitor program activities in relation to program goals.
- Prepare promotional materials and provide certifications to program participants including AHEC Scholars.
