The School of Education at Eastern Washington University seeks a faculty member with successful teaching experience in SPED and P-12 education. Responsibilities include the following: teaching SPED courses, Early Childhood courses, and general curriculum courses, including the new Level 1 courses for the newly revised curriculum. This faculty member will also participate in the collection of assessment data and the teaching expectations of student learners.

The faculty will be expected to teach face-to-face classes, hybrid or blended classes, based on the needs of the School of Education.

Required expectations include a minimum of a Doctoral degree in education or a closely related discipline including SPED or a related field and at least three years of successful teaching experience in P-12 schools. The candidate must have experience teaching in diverse populations and engaging with diverse communities. Interest, experience and/or ability promoting cultural competency and/or diversity. Experience with using research-based instructional methods for students with disabilities and applied behavior analysis.

Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

The expectations of the faculty include the skills and abilities necessary to function in a capacity as a faculty member, including flexibility, collaboration, collegiality, communication, teamwork, and time management.

Courses to be considered are all major SPED classes as well as foundation courses and areas in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Faculty load includes 36 credits annually, with an opportunity to teach some additional overload credits.
