- Principal consultant to assigned client areas supporting faculty, classified, exempt, and temporary employees.
- Primary focus on recruitment, with additional responsibilities in performance management, training, contract, rule and policy advice, classification, compensation, employee relations, HRIS, and organizational structure.
- Functions within the university’s inclusive, equitable, and transformative learning environment.
- Manage the full requisition, recruitment, and hiring processes for assigned areas.
- Review position requisitions for quality, accuracy, and alignment with university standards.
- Recommend advertising media and timelines using People Admin, Job Elephant, and other systems.
- Develop recruitment materials and maintain status in university systems.
- Provide training and support to search committees.
- Monitor recruitment and oversee applicant evaluation.
- Generate applicant demographic reports.
- Develop offer letters and contracts.
- Assist employees, managers, and departments with HR advice, conflict resolution, and interpreting collective bargaining agreements.
- Participate in training and other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum five years of HR experience beyond entry‑level work in at least one of the following functional areas:
- Recruitment
- Performance management, training and coaching
- Organizational structure and restructuring
- Contract, rule and policy advising
- Classification, position development, and compensation
- Human resources information systems (e.g., People Admin, Banner)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and database management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Effective collaboration with all levels of the organization, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Conflict management, teamwork, and customer‑service orientation.
- Ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach to support diverse needs.
- HR experience in a college or university setting.
- Experience in an environment with collective bargaining.
- Position is exempt and may involve receipt of and access to university funds.
- Background check required before employment.
- Compliance with EWU Immunization Policy 602‑02 and proof of vaccination prior to start.
- Eligible for training via online or in‑person/Zoom, posted on the HR site.
- Interview may be conducted via Zoom; candidates must have functional Zoom technology.
Salary range: $68,277.60 (minimum) to $79,000.00. Benefits include health insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan, vacation and sick leave accruals, 12 paid holidays, tuition waiver for employees and eligible family members, discounted EWU sports tickets, free transportation via STA buses, and access to campus workout facilities.
