Who are we looking for:
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Special Educator who can design and deliver research-based, individualised instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals. Hiring for the   Academic Year   , the ideal candidate will be skilled in adapting curriculum, using multi-sensory and assistive teaching strategies, managing IEPs and assessments, monitoring student progress, and ensuring compliance with documentation and timelines. Strong collaboration with coordinators, counsellors, teachers, and parents is essential, along with the ability to mentor staff, lead workshops, advocate for student needs, and contribute to inclusive, school-wide SEN and Gifted & Talented programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

Specialized Instruction and Curriculum adaptation:

Develop and deliver research–based, specialised instruction aligned with student IEP goals and objectives.
Adapt the core curriculum and learning materials to everyday learning.
Employ tailored teaching techniques, including multi-sensory instruction, structured methods, and assistive technology.
Create personalised lesson plans and engaging activities to teach academic and life skills.

2. IEP Management and Compliance:

Serve as the IEP facilitator: develop, implement and monitor annual individualised education plans/programmes.
Coordinate all special education and related services for assigned students.
Conduct and analyse formal evaluation, re – evaluations and ongoing assessments to track progress.
Ensure strict adherence to all procedural requirements, documentation, and due process timelines.

3. Assessment, Progress Monitoring and Reporting:

Utilize a variety of assessment tools to evaluate academic performance, social – emotional skills and developmental needs.
Maintain accurate, confidential records of student progress, adjustments to instruction, and behavioural patterns.
Prepare and present clear, constructive feedback to students, parents and educational teams.

4. Collaboration and Consultation:

Collaborate closely with the respective Coordinators to promote inclusive practices.
Lead the student identification process and coordinate with teachers to plan support strategies.
Work with the School Counsellor and EAL educator to facilitate referrals.

5. Professional Development:

Coach, mentor, and provide instructional direction to the teaching community.
Organize and lead workshops for staff and parents on differentiation, inclusion and specific learning needs.
Contribute to the development of school – wide SEN/Gifted and Talented programmes.
Advocate for students’ needs and promote a culture of awareness and inclusion with the school community.

6. Miscellaneous:

Undertake other duties deemed necessary, as requested by the Head of School and/or the Coordinators.

Skills and

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of Special Education in a school or private setting.
Candidates with relevant licenses and certifications in the field of Special Education will be given preference.
Candidates with relevant experience working with children in the field of Special Education will be given preference.

Additional Information:
Job location is in Chetpet, Chennai. This is an on-site and full-time position.
School timings are from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm.
