Who are we looking for:
We are looking for a skilled Special Educator who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusive education. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing and implementing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), providing instructional support tailored to students’ unique needs, maintaining thorough documentation and reporting, managing student behaviour effectively, and adapting curriculum to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners.
A commitment to collaboration, empathy, and continuous professional growth is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualised Education Plans (IEPs):
Develop, implement, and regularly review IEPs tailored to each student's needs, in collaboration with parents, therapists, and other school staff.
- Instructional Support:
Deliver customised instruction to students based on their individual needs and learning styles.
- Curriculum Adaptation:
Modify the standard curriculum to meet the abilities of students with disabilities.
- Behaviour Management:
Implement and monitor behaviour intervention plans and use positive behaviour supports.
- Collaboration:
Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, counsellors, and parents to support students’ academic and social development.
- Progress Monitoring:
Assess and track student performance and progress regularly, adjusting goals accordingly.
- Classroom Environment:
Maintain a supportive, safe, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, assessments, and communications.
- Professional Development:
Participate in training and workshops to stay updated on special education practices, legal requirements, and instructional strategies.
Skills and
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or P.G. Diploma or Master’s degree in Special Education or equivalent in Multiple Disabilities.
- 2 to 3 years working with children and adults with multiple disabilities.
- Patience, empathy and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using educational technology, assistive aids, and devices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Good organisational and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in English is a must.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and specialised instructional strategies.
Additional Information:
- Job location is in New Giri Road, T. Nagar, Chennai. This is an on-site and full-time position.
- School timings are from 7.50 am to 3.00 pm.
