Position     Faculty – Pattern Making & Garment Construction

Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and passionate   Pattern Making & Garment Construction Faculty   to train and mentor fashion design students in the practical aspects of pattern development, garment construction, and finishing techniques.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on industry knowledge and the ability to translate technical concepts into practical, student-friendly learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct practical and theory sessions on   Pattern Making and Garment Construction   .
Teach students to develop patterns from basic blocks to advanced garment styles.
Demonstrate   pattern drafting, manipulation, grading, cutting, stitching, and garment assembly   .
Train students in taking accurate body measurements and developing garments according to individual measurements.
Teach construction techniques for different garment categories, including   women’s wear, men’s wear and contemporary garments   .
Guide students in understanding fabrics, grain lines, fabric behaviour, seam allowances, and garment fit.
Demonstrate the correct usage and handling of   industrial and domestic sewing machines   .
Train students in garment finishing techniques, including closures, collars, sleeves, pockets, waistbands, hems and other details.
Conduct garment fittings and provide constructive feedback for corrections and alterations.
Guide students through practical assignments, projects and portfolio development.
Ensure students maintain proper documentation of patterns, samples, construction processes and finished garments.
Evaluate student work based on technical accuracy, construction quality, fit, finishing and creativity.
Keep students updated with contemporary garment construction techniques and industry practices.
Maintain a structured and professional learning environment.
Coordinate with other faculty members to ensure smooth integration of pattern making, design development and garment construction projects.
Participate in student evaluations, exhibitions, fashion shows, workshops and institutional activities when required.

Required

Skills & Qualifications
Degree in   Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Garment Technology   or a related field.
Strong practical knowledge of   pattern making and garment construction   .
Ability to work with different types of sewing machines and garment construction equipment.
Strong communication and teaching skills.
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and patiently.
Prior teaching/training experience in a fashion college / institute is preferred.
Relevant industry experience in apparel, fashion production or garment construction will be an added advantage.

Preferred Experience
2–5 years of relevant experience   in fashion education, apparel production, pattern making or garment construction.
