Position: API Gateway Engineer
Location:
Alwarpet, ( Chennai )

Notice Period:
Immediate to 15 days (Max)
Key Responsibilities
API Gateway Design & Management
- Design, configure, and maintain API gateway solutions (Apigee, APIM, Kong).
- Develop API proxies, policies, routing rules, transformations, and custom plugins.
- Implement throttling, caching, load balancing, and traffic management features.
Security & Compliance
- Enforce API security using OAuth2, JWT, API keys, and other authentication methods.
- Ensure compliance with company security standards and industry regulations.
- Manage access control, rate limiting, IP filtering, and threat protection.
API Development & Integration
- Work closely with backend and frontend teams to onboard new APIs.
- Create and maintain API documentation, versioning, lifecycle policies, and developer onboarding flows.
- Support microservices integration and service discovery.
Monitoring & Performance Optimization
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as Cloud Watch, Grafana, Splunk, ELK, or Prometheus.
- Optimize API performance, latency, and error handling.
- Troubleshoot production issues and ensure high availability.
Automation & CI/CD
- Automate API deployments using CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, Git Lab CI, etc.).
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Cloud Formation) for gateway configurations.
- Develop reusable templates and API on-boarding frameworks.
Required
Skills & Qualifications
- 2–5+ years of experience working with API gateways or API management platforms.
- Strong understanding of REST, Graph QL, and Micro services architecture.
- Hands-on experience with API security standards (OAuth2, Open-, JWT).
- Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Bash, Node.js, Power shell).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of event-driven architecture and messaging systems.
- Understanding of Dev Sec Ops practices.
- Experience implementing API monetization, analytics, or developer portals.
