Chennai (Work From Office)
Role Overview :
The Head of Technology (HoT) is the strategic enabler for the entire business, accountable for building and running the foundational technology platform that powers all digital and physical operations. This role owns hybrid cloud infrastructure, enterprise security, Dev Ops/SRE enablement, and corporate/branch IT—not as a support function, but as a transformational, solution-oriented leadership mandate.
The HoT is expected to reverse infrastructure/engineering regression, modernize the stack, impose disciplined cost and security practices, and create an internal “paved road to production” that accelerates engineering velocity while ensuring reliability and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Enablement & Dev Ops
- Build a standardized, self-service developer platform (CI/CD, IaC, automation).
- Create a “paved road to production” to improve release speed, safety, and Dev Ex.
Cloud Infrastructure & Fin Ops
- Lead hybrid/multi-cloud strategy and complete AWS migration.
- Drive cost optimization and accountable cloud spend using Fin Ops practices/tools.
- Own scalability, performance, uptime, infra lifecycle, and key vendors.
Reliability & Observability
- Implement unified observability and proactive incident prevention.
- Establish SLO/SLI mindset, modern escalation, lower MTTR and repeat issues.
Security, Risk & Compliance
- Own Info Sec program:
Zero Trust, IAM, segmentation, GDPR/audit readiness.
- Reduce risk, audit findings, and improve detection/response.
Corporate & Branch Technology
- Run corporate/branch IT as a high-CSAT, automation-first service.
- Manage branch/local infra, colo, and business-critical tele-calling systems.
Transformational Leadership
- Drive modernization over operations; reset standards and culture.
- Challenge legacy thinking, enforce accountability, and lead innovation.
Skill Expectations:
Core Technical Competencies (Must-Have)
- Cloud Architecture & Migration: AWS deep expertise (preferred), Azure exposure ok.
- Fin Ops / Cost Governance:
Fin Ops tools, spend attribution, rightsizing, ROI frameworks.
- Dev Ops/SRE Enablement: CI/CD standardization, deployment safety, platform engineering.
- Infrastructure as Code:
Terraform (primary), Ansible; strong automation posture.
- Observability:
Open Telemetry/metrics/logs/traces, proactive SLO/SLI driven ops.
- Enterprise Security:
Zero Trust, IAM, network segmentation, audit readiness.
- BCP/DR:
Business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Data Platforms Awareness:
Data lakes, DWH, ETL, Data engineering basics.
- AI/ML Infra Readiness: GPU/ML compute, ML infra patterns
Leadership & Behavioral Competencies (Critical)
- Transformational leadership:
Ability to modernize a Product company
- Authority to influence:
Comfortable pushing back and resetting norms.
- Solution-orientation:
Builder mindset vs. “ticket/support” mentality.
- Innovation & tech-oriented mindset:
Proactively prevents obsolescence.
- Transparency & metric-driven management:
Publishes uptime, CSAT, cost ROI.
Education & Experience:
- 15–20 years total experience with progressive leadership in platform / infra / security domains.
- B.E/B.Tech in any specialization. Post-grad/MBA optional, not required.
- Must also have product deployment experience in product, services, or hybrid environments, showing ability to execute across messy legacy and modern stacks.
- Proven track record running infra, Dev Ops and security in organisations with both digital and physical footprints.
