About the Role

We’re hiring a Backend Tech Lead to architect, scale, and guide the evolution of our backend systems.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll make foundational architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure our systems scale reliably as we grow into millions of users across countries.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead architecture, design, and development of scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js (Express/Nest.js).
- Make high-impact decisions around:
- Microservices & distributed systems
- Performance optimization
- Data modeling
- Caching strategies
- Event-driven architecture
- Own the technical roadmap for backend systems end-to-end.
- Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and technical guidance; uplift the engineering bar across the team.
- Ensure systems are built with high-quality standards: automated testing, observability, logging, alerting, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Dev Ops, and Frontend teams to ship scalable features quickly and reliably.
- Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve engineering velocity and maintainability.
- Ensure reliability and availability of backend systems, backed by SLAs, monitoring, and proactive issue prevention.
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering practices, design patterns, and development workflows.

Requirements

- 7–10+ years of backend engineering experience with deep expertise in Node.js and asynchronous programming.
- Strong knowledge of:
- REST API design
- Microservices & distributed architecture
- Event-driven & pub/sub systems
- Concurrency & async patterns
- Expertise in SQL (Postgre

SQL/MySQL) and No

SQL (Mongo

DB/Dynamo

DB/Redis).

- Experience with messaging systems:
Kafka, Rabbit

MQ, SQS, or equivalent.
- Strong familiarity with AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda).
- Hands-on experience leading engineering teams, reviewing designs, and owning major systems.
- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
