Job Requirements
* Virtualization Platform Operations

• Administer VMware vSphere / ESXi and Microsoft Hyper V environments supporting McCain’s business critical workloads

• Manage vCenter Server, Hyper V clusters, hosts, and resource pools

• Perform VM provisioning, cloning, snapshot management, migrations, and decommissioning

• Configure and maintain HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion, and Live Migration

• Ensure environments comply with McCain approved architecture and vendor best practices

Availability, Performance & Capacity

• Maintain high availability clusters for virtual machines and hosts

• Monitor virtual to physical resource utilization to prevent over commitment

• Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization

• Analyze and remediate CPU, memory, storage, and latency bottlenecks

Patch, Upgrade & Security Compliance

• Plan and execute hypervisor patching, upgrades, and firmware updates

• Apply security hardening and vulnerability remediation aligned to McCain standards

• Upgrade VMware Tools and VM hardware versions

• Support audit readiness, SOX controls, and compliance evidence

Storage & Network Integration

• Attach and manage SAN, NAS, vSAN, and shared storage for McCain virtual platforms

• Coordinate with storage and network teams for datastore, LUN, and VLAN configurations

• Configure virtual switches and distributed networking

• Troubleshoot storage latency and network performance issues

Incident, Problem & Change Management

• Provide L2/L3 operational support for virtualization incidents and service requests

• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes

• Execute approved changes, maintenance windows, and outage activities

• Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for hardware and hypervisor issues

• Work within Service Now and ITIL aligned processes

Automation & Documentation

• Leverage Power Shell / PowerCLI to automate repetitive operational tasks

• Maintain SOPs, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and KT documents

• Support knowledge transfer to L1/L2 teams and offshore/onshore collaboration

Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory Technical Skills

• VMware vSphere / ESXi, vCenter Server

• Microsoft Hyper V, Failover Clustering

• HA, DRS, vMotion, Live Migration

• Enterprise storage integration (SAN, NAS, vSAN)

• Performance monitoring and capacity planning

• ITSM tools (Service Now or equivalent)

Good to Have

• Backup & DR tools:
Veeam, Commvault

• Automation:
Power Shell, PowerCLI

• Exposure to Azure IaaS / hybrid cloud

• Cross platform awareness (Windows, Linux)

Experience & Qualifications

• Prior experience in managed services / large data center environments

• VMware or Microsoft certifications (preferred)

Operational Model

• 24x7 support with on call rotation

• Collaboration with McCain infrastructure, application, storage, and security teams

• Adherence to McCain governance, security, and change controls.
