Position Overview The Linguistic Service Assistant will play a vital role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our linguists by performing a variety of support tasks. This position is ideal for an individual who is organized, tech-savvy, and has a keen interest in language services. The successful candidate will contribute to updating translation memory, creating term entries, and coordinating other linguistic resources to streamline workflow processes.
Key Responsibilities - Assist in the maintenance and updating of translation memories (TM) to ensure up-to-date and consistent translations.
- Create and manage terminology entries in glossaries and terminology databases, ensuring that they are accurate and comprehensive.
- Support linguists by conducting quality checks on completed translations for consistency and adherence to client-specific guidelines.
- Collaborate with the linguists to gather and organize reference materials, style guides, and other resources as needed for translation projects.
- Update clients' instructions in the TMS
-Help with project management tasks, including document prep and DTP.
- Provide administrative support to the linguistics team, such as scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining documentation.
- Assist in the onboarding and training of new linguistic team members regarding internal tools and processes.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Familiarity with translation tools (CAT tools) and terminology management software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- An enthusiasm for languages and a commitment to quality and accuracy in all work processes.
