Step into the role of Japan Settlement at Barclays, where you'll provide first-class support by conducting in-depth due diligence, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and safeguarding our clients and organization with expertise and care.

You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role such as:

Provide oversight and governance across all APAC Settlement activities along with assuming processing/approval responsibilities of settlement functions, ensuring adherence to regulatory obligations, internal policies, and global control framework.
Derive risk identification and mitigation, reviewing operational processes, analysing recurring issues/breaks, and implementing enhanced controls to strengthen end-end servicing resilience.
Lead governance forums and stakeholder engagement with regional operations, risk, compliance, and global counterparts to ensure transparent escalation, issue tracking, and timely remediation of control gaps.
Monitor vendor/custodian performance across corporate actions, income, proxy and reconciliations, ensuring SLA adherence, quality metrics, and effective oversight of outsourced processes.
Support strategic initiatives and audits including regulatory inspections, thematic reviews , policy updates, and process re-engineering to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.

Desirable Skill Sets

Strong analytical and risk management capability, with the ability to interpret complex Settlement/Asset Servicing processes, identify control gaps and drive data backed governance decisions.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Able to engage senior leaders across operation, risk, compliance, and external clients/custody with proven ability to influence outcomes in a fast-paced APAC environment.

This role is based out of Chennai.

Purpose of the role

To support business areas with day-to-day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading and issue resolution.

Accountabilities

Support various business areas with day-to-day initiatives including processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.
Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.
Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations in operational processes.
Development and implementation of operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain operational efficiency.
Development of reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in banking operations.
Participation in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
