Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for an STP Plant Operator based in Chennai. The STP Plant Operator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the sewage treatment plant, including starting, stopping, and monitoring equipment, pumps, blowers, and valves as per standard operating procedures. The role includes recording operating parameters, adjusting process controls, and ensuring treated water quality meets regulatory and client standards.
The operator will perform routine checks, basic maintenance, and housekeeping of equipment and surroundings, promptly reporting any faults or abnormal conditions. Responsibilities also include collecting samples, coordinating with the quality team for analysis, maintaining operation logs, following safety and environmental guidelines, and supporting shutdowns, repairs, and operator training activities as required.
Qualifications
Candidates should have strong skills in plant operations, including Plant Operations and Machine Operation for STP or similar water/wastewater facilities.
Candidates should possess Quality Control skills, including monitoring process parameters and supporting sampling and testing to meet discharge norms.
Candidates should have Maintenance skills, including basic preventive and corrective maintenance, and coordination with maintenance teams for major repairs.
Candidates with Forklift Operation or similar material-handling experience (for chemicals, spares, and consumables) will be preferred where applicable.
Diploma or ITI in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental, or related field is preferred; prior experience in STP/ETP/WTP operation is an advantage.
Ability to read and follow SOPs, log sheets, and basic technical instructions; willingness to work in shifts, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
Awareness of safety practices, use of PPE, and environmental compliance requirements in water and wastewater treatment operations.
