Built on over 50 years of textile and garment-making expertise, we specialize in premium woven shirts and casual tailoring, combining heritage craftsmanship with a modern, design-led approach.

While we manufacture for leading global brands, Original Madras is also growing its own label, focused on high-quality, thoughtfully made menswear. As part of this growth, we are launching a niche Made to Order (MTO) program in India — bringing a New York brand perspective to a highly personalized, client-driven experience.

ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for a Menswear Specialist to lead and grow our Made to Order (MTO) program in India. This is a unique, brand-facing role that sits at the intersection of client experience, tailoring expertise, and production execution.

Unlike traditional bespoke tailoring, our MTO program is built on refined, pre-developed blocks, allowing clients to personalize garments through fabric selection and design details such as collars, cuffs, plackets, and sleeve finishes.

The role requires someone who can confidently engage with high-end clientele, take precise measurements, guide clients through style decisions, and translate those requirements seamlessly to our production teams in Chennai.

This is a highly independent role involving significant travel across India, setting up private appointments in hotel suites and partner retail spaces, and representing the Original Madras brand at every touchpoint.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the end-to-end execution of the MTO program in India, from client acquisition to final delivery
Conduct private client appointments across cities — including hotel suites, trunk shows, and partner retail environments
Take accurate body measurements and guide clients through fit, styling, and garment customization
Communicate confidently using menswear and tailoring terminology, building trust with a discerning clientele
Present and sell fabrics, design options, and garment details aligned with the Original Madras aesthetic
Work closely with the Chennai factory, pattern masters, and production teams to ensure precise execution of all orders
Manage order tracking, client communication, and after-sales service to ensure premium experience
Build and nurture a network of clients, stylists, and partners to grow the MTO business
Travel extensively within India to develop the program across key cities

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
3–6 years of experience in menswear, tailoring, or a client-facing role within premium apparel
Strong understanding of shirt construction, fits, and customization options (collars, cuffs, plackets, etc.)
Ability to take precise measurements and advise clients on fit and styling with confidence
Comfortable interacting with high-end clientele in one-on-one settings
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
Highly self-driven and comfortable working independently while traveling frequently
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple clients and orders simultaneously
Prior experience in bespoke, made-to-measure, or luxury retail is a strong advantage
