Lift Offa’s Mead is a primary school on a mile outside Chepstow with strong local links to community and military families. The school fosters a collaborative ethos where pupils are encouraged to participate fully, feel valued, respected, and active in their development.

Role Overview

This teaching assistant works with a seasoned teacher to support student learning, attainment and independence. Responsibilities include providing classroom support, promoting student self‑esteem and social inclusion, and helping pupils access and engage with the curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with teachers to improve learning outcomes and promote student independence.
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum and participate in learning activities.
  • Promote a sense of achievement, self‑esteem, and social inclusion among students.
  • Assist in developing students’ independence, self‑esteem, and social inclusion.
Qualifications & Skills
  • L2 or L3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work towards the qualification if not already achieved.
  • Patience, calm demeanour, empathy for pupils’ learning needs.
  • Ability to engage and enthuse students to learn.
  • Understanding of a range of pupils’ learning needs.
