Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will support the daily functions of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial data through consistent transaction processing and account maintenance. This role plays an important part in preparing internal financial reports, assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities, and maintaining reliable general ledger activity and account reconciliations. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities- Complete bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare and maintain account reconciliations for expense-related activity.
- Review monthly credit card transactions and reconcile corresponding accounts.
- Accurately record cash receipts and payments in a timely manner.
- Process and reconcile consolidated payroll entries.
- Assist with the maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, debt, and related expenses.
- Manage and update fixed asset and intangible asset records and associated schedules.
- Handle lease accounting activities in accordance with ASC 842, including required reconciliations.
- Support month-end closing tasks and deadlines as assigned.
- Carry out special projects or additional tasks assigned by accounting leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience, ideally within a public accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling abilities.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
