Part-Time Controller for Nonprofit Organizations

We are looking for a dedicated, personable, hands‑on Controller who is passionate about helping nonprofit organizations. Successful candidates will be comfortable working with multiple clients both virtually and on‑site and will interact regularly with clients, their staff, Board of Directors and Finance Committees.
Responsibilities- Transform nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission.
- Perform financial reporting for management and Board decision making and presentations.
- Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies and procedures, supporting client strategy and best practices.
- Handle transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable (revenue recognition and billing), payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month‑end close, and maintaining work papers.
- Conduct analysis and data visualization, budgeting and forecasting.
- Manage grant allocation and funder reporting.
- Prepare for and manage annual audit.
- Provide client and staff training opportunities.
- Passionate about working in or supporting non-profit organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
- 5–7+ years of accounting experience.
- Experience working in a remote environment preferred.
- Ability to manage and lead multiple clients, work independently, and respond promptly.
- Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with multiple GL packages, especially Quick Books, and electronic bill pay systems.
- Non‑profit accounting, public accounting, or consulting experience is a plus but not required.
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

- Standard 35‑hour full‑time work week with eligibility for paid overtime for non‑exempt employees.
- Benefits for full‑time positions:
- 4 weeks paid time off, generally consisting of 100 hours paid vacation to start and eligibility for additional vacation based on tenure.

Starting hourly rate is $50 to $65 per hour for this non‑exempt position. Total compensation may increase with overtime pay and eligibility for various bonuses. A professional development reimbursement and technology stipend are also provided annually.
